De Gea set to sign lucrative new contract with Manchester United

According to Sky Sports, David De Gea is set to sign a new contract with Manchester United, one that would make him the best paid goalkeeper in the world.

De Gea has been linked with departure from Old Trafford every summer since 2015, mostly with Real Madrid, and it’s fair to say he has been United’s arguably best performer season after season. Since his arrival from Atletico Madrid in 2011, he has been named the club’s Player of the Year four times.

After forward Marcus Rashford, midfielder Andreas Pereira and defender Axel Tuanzebe all committed their long-term future to the 20-time England champions, manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer expressed confidence in the 28-year-old shot-stopper doing the same soon.

His current deal expires in 12 months, and negotiations over a new one have been taking place for just as long now.

The Spaniard has apparently been offered a deal which would see his wages rise to somewhere between £350,000 and £375,000 per week.
