Spanish footballer Ivan de la Peña will play two more years, after ending his career at Barcelona based side Espanyol.

The player said this during a pre-season trip to Peralada in the Spanish province of Girona.

De la Peña recently extended his contract. “It was complicated saying no. A lot of people were telling me what to do but afer a talk with my wife, I think I chose the right thing,” the 33-year-old said.

“Here I feel at home, with my family and my sons, and money isn’t the only important thing.”

The central midfielder has been at Espanyol since 2002. The player also spent a large part of his career at local rivals FC Barcelona, and represented Lazio and Marseille.
