Defoe wants permanent Rangers deal

Jermain Defoe is keen on extending his stay at Glasgow Rangers after his current temporary deal expires, according to Evening Times.

The 37-year-old is currently on loan with the Gers from Bournemouth, and once the deal expires at the end of the season, the one with the Cherries will expire too. The striker has already bagged nine goals in 13 matches for the Scottish team this season, and he feels he can keep his performances at this level for at least another campaign after this one. Quite apart from his contribution on that front, he has also proven to be a good role model for fellow forward Alfredo Morelos.

Defoe says he has spoken to manager Steven Gerrard about his wish to continue his career at the Ibrox past this season. He’s enjoying his time with the club, and he says he knows Gerrard needs him too. He still hasn’t thought about retiring from playing professionally, considering himself to be in a good place both physically and mentally.
