Denis Suarez close to joining Arsenal

Barcelona’s Denis Suarez is close to completing a move to Arsenal, according to Sky Sports.

The 25-year-old signed for Manchester City in 2011 and having been unable to get enough game-time, he joined Barcelona in 2013. A year later, he was sent out on loan to Sevilla as part of the deal which saw Ivan Rakitić move the other way, and there he played under current Arsenal manager Unai Emery.

Another 12 months later, Suarez was sold to Villarreal, but having inserted a buy-back clause into the deal, Barcelona exercised the option in 2016 and brought him back to Nou Camp for €3.5 million, on a four-year deal. However, he has once again been unable to nail down a regular place in the team and reports of his possible second departure started appearing.

In mid December, one such report claimed the services of the versatile midfielder, capable of playing on either wing as well as in the middle of the park, had been offered to the Gunners for a very reasonable fee, and now it is claimed that both Suarez and Emery are keen on a reunion.
