Derby complete Bamford loan deal

Championship promotion hopefuls Derby County have signed Patrick Bamford on loan from Chelsea until the end of the season, according to the Mail Online.

The 20 year old spent the first half of the season on loan with League One side MK Dons, and with fourteen goals in twenty-three appearances is currently the second top goal-scorer in the third tier.

Bamford, who in November won his first cap for the England U21’s, began his professional career at Derby’s fierce rivals Nottingham Forest, but was sold to Chelsea having made just brief substitute appearances for the first team.

He made fourteen appearances for Karl Robinson’s side last season, having initially moved to Milton Keynes in November 2012 while he scored in his final appearances for the club at the weekend in a 3-3 draw with Wigan Athletic in the third round of the FA Cup.

He joins a Rams side currently fourth in the Championship, seven points behind leaders Leicester City, who they face at the King Power Stadium on Friday evening.
