Veteran Dutch midfielder Edgar Davids was Saturday added to the Oceania All Stars team to play David Beckham’s LA Galaxy in New Zealand next weekend.

The 35-year-old, with distinctive dreadlocks, has played 74 internationals for the Netherlands and has earned himself the nickname “pitbull” because of his aggressive style.

He was also chosen by legendary Brazilian Pele to be featured in the FIFA 100, a compilation of the world’s greatest living footballers.

“Davids brings experience, flair and a passionate playing style to the Oceania All Stars team,” said Oceania Football Confederation General Secretary Tai Nicholas.

Davids, who suffers from glaucoma and has to wear protective goggles on the field, has had a stellar career which includes playing for AC Milan, Juventus, FC Barcelona, Inter Milan and Tottenham Hotspur.

He joins French international Christian Karembeu and former Manchester United goalkeeper Mark Bosnich as guest players in the Oceania team.

Oceania players in the side include past and present representatives from New Zealand, the Solomon islands, Vanuatu, New Caledonia, Tahiti and Papua New Guinea.
