Back in June, Ovie Ejaria signed a new deal with Liverpool and went to join his club’s icon Steven Gerrard, now managing Glasgow Rangers, on a season-long loan.
Everything was going well. The 21-year-old was getting plenty of game-time with the Scottish club – he had made 28 appearances already, and scored two goals.
However, as the month of December began, something had obviously started going wrong for him. He was first late for training in the buildup to Rangers’ Europa League clash with Villareal, and he was left out of the traveling squad for the Austria trip where they lost 1-0 to Rapid and ended their European adventure for the season. Gerrard said Ejaria wasn’t ‘in the right state of mind’ for the game.
After that, the midfielder deleted his Twitter account and removed all associations with Rangers on his other social media accounts. Yesterday, the two clubs confirmed his loan had been cut short and he has returned to Liverpool.
On their official website, Rangers stated that Ejaria failed to adapt to life in Scotland. No other explanation has been given.
