Elton John helping Watford with scouting

“His knowledge of football is incredible. He often will text or email me: ‘Are you watching this second division game?’ And I go: ‘No, no I am not Elton’.

“He recommends players that I have not heard of and I say I will pass it to my scouting department. They come back and say: ‘Yeah, yeah, really good player let’s look at this’.”

Those are the words of current Watford chairman Scott Duxbury, who has confirmed that club legend Elton John continues to help out as and when he can with scouting out new players for the Premier League side.

Elton has been the chairman of Watford Football Club on two separate occasions, helping them to achieve a runners up spot in the FA Cup as well as the First Division.

The club are currently in the running for a Europa League place, following a thoroughly successful first half of the Premier League season.
