According to Liverpool Echo, Everton have begun discussions with Jarrad Branthwaite over a new contract, as retaining the highly-rated centre-back is seen as a key priority this summer. The 22-year-old continues to attract interest from Premier League rivals, most notably Manchester United, but the Blues are keen to secure his long-term future.
David Moyes is planning to build his revamped Everton side around Branthwaite, and although the defender is still under contract for another two years, talks have started over an improved deal that reflects his growing importance to the team.
Branthwaite signed his current contract in the early part of the 2023/24 season, which coincided with his emergence as a first-team regular under Sean Dyche. He went on to form a strong central defensive partnership with James Tarkowski and capped off a standout campaign with a goal in the Merseyside derby at Goodison Park.
His performances earned him a call-up to the senior England squad, though injury disrupted his summer and the start of the following campaign. However, once back to full fitness, he returned to play an important role under Moyes once again.
