´Everything is possible now´ – Bodo/Glimt revel in ´historic´ victory over Lazio

Bodo/Glimt believe “everything is possible now” after beating Lazio on penalties to advance to an “historic” Europa League semi-final.

Kjetil Knutsen’s side became the first Norwegian team to qualify for the last four of a major European competition, as they held their nerve at Stadio Olimpico.

Lazio overturned a 2-0 first-leg deficit to lead 3-2 in extra-time, but Andreas Helmersen levelled the tie and eventually forced a penalty shootout.

There, Nikita Haikin was the hero. Despite Patrick Berg blazing what could have been the winning penalty over the crossbar, the Bodo/Glimt goalkeeper saved from Taty Castellanos to seal a 3-2 win.

“I don’t believe in miracles, I believe in our journey,” Knutsen told UEFA.com. “Today, the magic was with us. We played an extraordinary match, and we’re incredibly proud to be in the semi-finals.”

“It’s huge. We’re very happy,” Haikin added. “It’s historic, not only for Bodo/Glimt, but for all of Norwegian football.”

Bodo/Glimt’s reward is a semi-final showdown with Tottenham, who edged out 2022 champions Eintracht Frankfurt 2-1 on aggregate, and forward Jens Petter Hauge is confident in his side’s chances.

“Everything is possible now,” he said. “There are four teams left, and we have to keep working hard to prepare for Tottenham. They are a strong team with many good players.

“It’s going to be tough, like [against Lazio], but this group can do it, and we obviously believe in ourselves.”
