Fiorentina reject Atletico bid for Simeone

Fiorentina have rejected a bid from Atletico Madrid for Giovanni Simeone, according to Sport.

Atletico are actively looking to bolster their attacking options and it seems manager Diego Simeone is keen on working with his 23-year-old son.

The young striker started his career with River Plate where he spent three and a half years before going out on loan to Banfield. After a season there he moved to Italy in 2016, to Genoa, and then to Fiorentina in 2017. Last season he made 40 appearances and scored 14 goals in all competitions for the Viola.

The bid in question was one of €40million, and even though the Firenza club aren’t categorically against letting the player join his father in Madrid, they want more than that to dispense with his services. Atletico president Enrique Cerezo was open to spending a vast sum of money on the manager’s son, but having the initial offer rejected it remains to be seen just how far he is ready to go.
