As exclusively revealed by The Telegraph, Phil Foden will sign a new contract with Manchester City today (Monday).
There have been suggestions that the 18-year-old may look to leave the club due to the lack of first-team opportunities, similar to the way Jadon Sancho left and joined Borussia Dortmund in the summer and has never looked back. Foden has also been linked with Dortmund, but also RB Leipzig and Paris Saint-Germain.
However, it appears Foden’s fate is to be different. The young midfielder, recently praised by manager Pep Guardiola as ‘ready’ to step into the team, will put pen to paper on a contract that will see him bound to the Premier League holders until 2024.
Although he is yet to bag a league start, Foden has made 13 appearances this season and got a goal to his name in the Carabao Cup. With both Fernandinho and David Silva well over 30, Foden is set to get his chance in the near future.
