Frenkie de Jong on Barca radar

El Mundo Deportivo is reporting that Barcelona are keeping close tabs on Ajax starlet Frenkie de Jong.

The Catalans have been impressed with the midfielder’s performances this season and they plan to lure him to Camp Nou in the near future.

Barcelona officials are convinced that De Jong could eventually replace Sergio Busquets in the starting line-up and they plan to make their move in a year’s time.

The talented youngster has so far shown a great deal of potential, making a total of 26 Eredivisie appearances since joining from Willem II some three years ago.

De Jong, 20, has a deal until June 2022 at Amsterdam ArenA, and is also capable of operating as a centre-back.
