Italy have announced Gennaro Gattuso as their new head coach.
Gianluigi Buffon revealed on Saturday that Italy were closing in on a deal with Gattuso, and a day later, the Azzurri confirmed he had taken the position.
Gattuso will be presented as Luciano Spalletti’s replacement on Thursday, though Italy have not yet given any details on the 47-year-old’s contract.
Spalletti confirmed he had been dismissed in a press conference last Sunday, off the back of a 3-0 defeat to Norway in World Cup qualifying, before leading Italy to a 2-0 win over Moldova.
He took charge of just 24 matches, winning half of those (D6 L6).
