Gladbach eye reinforcements

Borussia Monchengladbach are already planning their squad for next season, according to Sport Bild.

Manager Max Eberls is apparently looking for a new centre-back, and it seems he has found one he likes at Hertha BSC, in the form of 23-year-old Niklas Stark.

Stark is doing very well in Berlin. He has already made 14 Bundesliga appearances this season and head coach Pal Dardai seems to trust him. Aslo, his contract is set to run until 2022, and that could prove a hindering factor in Borussia’s pursuit of the player.

Apart from Stark, Gladbach are also contemplating a swoop for Marc-Oliver Kempf from VfB Stuttgart. The 24-year-old defender started his career with Eintracht Frankfurt and moved to SC Freiburg in 2014. Last summer his contract expired, and he joined Stuttgart as a free agent.

Stark and Kempf have played together before. They were both members of the Germany team which won the UEFA European Under-21 Championship in 2017.
