According to Marca, Atletico Madrid’s Antoine Griezmann had informed the club he was ready to reject the offer from Barcelona and stay in Madrid, hours before winning the Europa League and the unpleasant moment after the final in Lyon when a group of no more than 40-50 Atletico fans (according to manager Diego Simeone) whistled against him. The offending whistles were the consequence of reports of Barcelona claiming the deal was almost done.
Atletico Madrid have even publicly criticized Barcelona for their transfer methods.
His decision was kept quiet on mutual agreement between club and player in order not to take any attention away from the special moment for Fernando Torres, and the fans, not knowing the situation, showed dissatisfaction with the player in a loud manner.
Now, however, Marca believe the Frenchman might reconsider his decision and a move to Catalonia may still be a possibility. His entourage is divided on the matter with some pushing for a move, and some (his wife for one), trying to get him to stay.
