According to a recent report from L’Equipe, Luiz Gustavo sensationally paid £900,000 of his own money in order to get his move from Marseille to Fenerbahce over the finish line. The Brazilian had made it clear throughout the course of the summer transfer window that he was invested in the idea of leaving, but few could’ve anticipated it would be to this extent.

The 32-year-old had been with the French side for two years, but seemed invested in the idea of trying out something new in Turkey. He was arguably best known for his time with German giants Bayern Munich, but either way, he’s the kind of savvy veteran that is always replied upon in the big games by whoever he is playing for.

Given his age there is a good chance that this could be the final big move of his career, which may actually be his primary motivation behind this. If he wanted a fresh start then he would’ve done anything to secure it, and this is an example of that.
