Holt set for Villa switch

Aston Villa are keen on agreeing a loan deal for Wigan Athletic striker Grant Holt, according to Sky Sports.

The 32 year old played under Villa boss Paul Lambert for three seasons at Norwich City, where together they secured back to back promotions.

Despite scoring fifteen goals in the Premier League, Holt was moved on by Canaries boss Chris Hughton in the summer.

He has made twenty-one appearances for the Latics, scoring twice, but now looks set for a return to the top flight.

The former Nottingham Forest and Shrewsbury Town man is set to have a medical on Tuesday and could be available for Villa’s match at Liverpool on Saturday afternoon.

Villa currently sit in eleventh place following their 2-1 defeat to leaders Arsenal yesterday evening.

However, they are just five points above the relegation zone, and can be backed at a price of 7/1 to drop down to the Championship.
