Leah Williamson has signed a new contract with Arsenal, extending her 20-year stay at the club.

Having joined the academy as an eight-year-old in 2006, Williamson has now reportedly put pen to paper on a two-year deal to keep her at the Emirates.

Since breaking into the senior side in 2014, the England captain has made 252 appearances for Arsenal in competitions, netting 17 goals, including her first at the Emirates in their thumping 7-0 victory over Leicester City on Tuesday.

During her time, Williamson has won the Women’s Super League title in 2018-19, two FA Cups, four League Cups, the Champions League and the Champions Cup.

“I don’t feel like I’m done,” she told Arsenal’s website.

“I think it’s really special to be somewhere where you care so much about the people, the project, the place. I don’t think it’s something to take for granted.

“After 20 years, I still feel wanted, and I want to be here, so I don’t understand why it would have been time to leave this time.

“I think we [need to] just keep trying to climb. We’re trying to find a new level as a team, trying to find a new level personally. I feel like I still have more to give everybody.

“I will never, ever stop trying to rise. As a team, we have goals that we want to achieve. We haven’t won everything consistently. That’s a goal for all of us, and I don’t think it’s unachievable.

“Arsenal’s home. It still feels like home. It drives me, the energy to put back into what it’s given me.”

Williamson missed the start of the 2025-26 season after undergoing knee surgery following England’s Euro 2025 victory, with Williamson captaining the side to their second consecutive championship.

She has made 11 appearances in all competitions, with Arsenal still in the race for the WSL title.

They are also through to the Champions League semi-final, in which they hold a 2-1 lead over Lyon after the first leg.
