Brentford left Carrow Road victorious after beating Norwich City by 1-3 on Saturday, courtesy of an Ivan Toney hat-trick. The only goal for the Canaries was the work of Teemu Pukki in the second-half stoppage time.
The match produced an interesting moment between Norwich defender Brandon Williams and Christian Eriksen, who’s just returned to football and plays for Brentford after recovering from a cardiac arrest suffered last summer at the Euros.
The former Tottenham Hotspur star pulled Williams down from behind and Williams reacted angrily at first, but seeing who had pulled him down and remembering in a flash what Eriksen had gone through, he turned his frown into a smile and gave the Dane a big hug instead. A moment of fantastic human awareness and sense of decency from the former Manchester United youngster.
🗣 “I was going to hold him then but then I know what he’s been through. I felt like he needed a hug.”
