The rivalry between Jose Mourinho and Pep Guardiola goes back to their days when they coached Real Madrid and Barcelona, respectively, more than a decade ago, and it seems they still can’t resist having a pop at each other at every opportunity.
Talking up his legacy in English football, Guardiola recently mentioned that he has won six Premier League titles, while Mourinho has three. Mourinho responded that he won his titles fairly, without his club facing “150 lawsuits”.
Guardiola has now come back with the “innocent until proven guilty” stance, pointing out that it’s still a fact he has won twice as many titles as Mourinho.
The initial verdict on the charges against Manchester City is expected early in 2025, and if the most serious allegations are proven, relegation from the Premier League will become a likely prospect for the reigning champions.
Pep Guardiola responds to Jose Mourinho after his brutal comments about the legitimacy of his six Premier League titles:
“If I’ve offended him [Mourinho], I’m so sorry. It was a joke. But the fact is he has three and I have six. This is a fact.” 😅
