Inter sign Arsenal target; Valencia complete Piatti signing

Inter sign Arsenal target

Inter Milan have completed the signing of midfielder Ricky Alvarez from Velez Sarsfield, the Argentine club have announced.

Just few days ago it looked as though the 23-year-old was destined to join Arsenal, but Inter chiefs took advantage of the Gunners’ hesitation and managed to snatch the youngster from under their noses.

Velez revealed that Inter had bought 90% of the player’s rights for $17 million, with the Argentine club set to keep the remaining 10% for the time being.

The Neroazzurri will have no option but to buy the remaining 10% should the player make 80 first team appearances for the club.

On the other hand, if Alvarez leaves Giuseppe Meazza before that happens, Velez will be entitled to 10% of the transfer fee.

The creative midfielder is set to sign a five-year contract worth around €1 million per season.

Alvarez will arrive to Italy on Thursday, when he will sign a five-year contract subject to passing a medical.

Valencia complete Piatti signing

Valencia have announced the signing of Almeria winger Pablo Piatti on their official website.

Valencia have confirmed they have agreed a transfer fee for Pablo Piatti with Almeria.

The Argentine midfielder will sign a five-year deal with los Che subject to passing a medical.

Club president Manuel Llorente believes the 22-year-old will be a big asset to the squad.

“A young player who has made a speedy progression but also much experience at the highest level,” Llorente told club’s official website.

“We are happy to have him as part of the squad. I can reveal now that there was a long and secretive negotiation process, but we have got the result that we wanted.

“Piatti is also from the province of Córdoba that has given us players such as Kempes, Claudio López and Aimar, so let’s hope that this is a good sign.”

Piatti will be officially unveiled at a press conference scheduled for Friday evening.

The diminutive winger has enjoyed three very successful season at Almeria after arriving from Estudiantes, having scored 20 goals in 100 league games for the La Liga side.

Villa reject Liverpool’s £15 million bid for Downing

Liverpool have offered £15 million for England international Stuart Downing, only to have the bid rejected by Aston Villa.

The Reds are keen on the Aston Villa winger and have already offered £15 million to Aston Villa, but the Villans are holding out for £19 million, according to Daily Mail.

Stuart Downing is looking to leave the club this summer and he is reportedly excited by the prospect of joining Liverpool.

He has two years left on his contract at Villa Park but has already made it clear that he doesn’t want to extend his current deal.

Therefore, Aston Villa are looking to cash in on their prized asset this summer, hoping to get as much as £19 million for him.

Liverpool are likely to return for the England international and they could try including some of their own players in the deal.

The Reds will try to include David Ngog in the deal as new Villa boss Alex McLeish is reportedly keen on the Frenchman.
