´It’s my last World Cup´ – Neymar reiterates desire for Brazil call-up

Neymar confirmed that the 2026 World Cup will be his last chance to represent Brazil in the competition.

The former Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain forward has made 13 appearances at the World Cup, scoring eight goals and three assists across those matches.

He was particularly impressive in the 2014 edition, which was hosted by Brazil, as he directly contributed to five goals (four goals, one assist) in as many games before suffering a back injury in the quarter-finals.

But Neymar was left out of Carlo Ancelotti’s squad for Brazil’s March internationals, where they face France and Croatia.

Brazil were drawn alongside Morocco, Scotland and Haiti in Group C for the World Cup this summer, though it is unclear whether Neymar will play a role in those matches.

The Santos man reiterated his desire to represent his country one last time at the World Cup, with his career nearing its end.

“Of course, it’s my last World Cup. I don’t know if it’s my last year in the national team, but it’s coming to an end, and we have to know that,” Neymar said on his YouTube channel.

“I was always telling my friends and my family, enjoy it as much as you can. Keep watching the games because it will end.

“I can help the national team. I can help in any way. I know the qualities I have and the power I have on the field.

“Obviously, I want to go to the World Cup. Obviously, this moves me. This past week, my name has been spoken a trillion times in the press and everywhere.

“I will do everything to play football. It doesn’t matter if it’s for Santos or for the Brazilian national team. I want to play well every game.”
