The chances of James Rodriguez returning to Real Madrid in the summer have possibly improved significantly since Friday, when Chelsea have been handed a two-window transfer ban for breaking FIFA rules when it comes to signing minors.
Chelsea’s Eden Hazard has long been linked with a move to Santiago Bernabeu and was all but seen in a white shirt in the summer. Now, however, the London club wouldn’t be able to sign a replacement should he be allowed to leave and follow his dream.
Meanwhile, Chelsea have confirmed their intention of contesting the decision of the FIFA Disciplinary Committee, feeling that they have been sentenced wrongly, and that might still postpone the ban from kicking in this summer, even if the decision is upheld. It remains to be seen what will happen with Chelsea and Hazard, but should the Belgian be unable to come to Madrid, Real might look at James again to return to the club after a two-year loan with Bayern Munich to fill in the gap, according to Marca.
The Colombian is reportedly a target for Juventus as well.
