Glen Johnson is close to signing a new contract with Portsmouth, according to manager Tony Adams.
Johnson has been linked with moves to Liverpool and Tottenham in recent weeks.
Following the departure of Lassana Diarra to Real Madrid, Adams is keen on keeping hold of the rest of his squad.
“The deal is 90 percent completed,” said Adams.
“He’s fighting fit at the moment and I’m delighted to welcome him back. He’s a player that I want here for a good time.
“I think it’s a good stage for him. It’s a good place and he’s got back in the England team by playing for Portsmouth.
“He’s a player I want to keep here for a few years.”
