According to a recent report from Sky Italy, Juventus are closing in on the signing of Schalke midfielder Weston McKennie.
It was reported recently that Premier League side Southampton were interested in trying to bring the American over to the South Coast, but Juve’s deal will likely be more appealing – if only based on the name value of the club.
The deal would be on a loan basis with a further option to buy, and the loan fee is believed to be worth around €3.5 million with the option to buy being €18 million.
At the age of just 21 it really does feel as if McKennie could be a huge force in the next few years, not only for a top European club like Juve, but for the United States men’s national team.
This deal is very close to getting over the finish line, and it’s another great indication of the new rise in ‘soccer’ in the USA.
