Juventus in talks for Sergi Roberto

Juventus are interested in signing Sergi Roberto from Barcelona this summer and the two clubs are already in talks about the move, according to Sport.

A midfielder by trade, Roberto has mostly been used on the right defensive flank by coach Quique Setien and Ernesto Valverde before him. Both tacticians obviously preferred him to Nelson Semedo in that role, despite the Portuguese being a natural right-back.

The situation has caused Semedo to be frequently linked with departure, but if the Catalans are indeed contemplating the possibility of selling Roberto, then its hard to imagine they would also let Semedo leave.

Apparently, the versatility and the willingness to play in different roles displayed by 28-year-old Roberto are the main reason of Juventus’ interest. On the other hand, Barcelona are interested in midfielder Miralem Pjanic.

The talks between the Italian and Spanish champions at this point exclusively revolve around a potential swap, with the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on their finances expected to be quite considerable.
