Juventus looking for a “new Ronaldo”

Juventus are on the lookout for a younger version of Cristiano Ronaldo, according to AS.

The Serie A title holders are always trying to improve their team, and they’ve made some huge signings over the recent years. As revealed by shareholders president Paolo Aicardi, their plans of reclaiming their place among the biggest clubs in the world began back in the days when Mirko Vucinic had been their main attacking outlet. From that, they’ve worked their way up through signing the likes of Carlos Tevez and Sami Khedira, and the acquisition of arguably the best player in the world in Cristiano Ronaldo was the sign that the plans have come through as ripe. After that it needed little confirmation, but Aicardi believes that the fact that they managed to grab defender Matthijs de Ligt under the very noses of top clubs does confirm it.

The next step, as he says, is to find a player who can be a long-term successor for Cristiano Ronaldo, with Gazzetta dello Sport recently claiming that the likes of Neymar and Kylian Mbappe of Paris Saint-Germain are on their radar.
