Bayern Munich coach Vincent Kompany is looking forward to some time off after Bayern Munich wrapped up the Bundesliga title with two matches left to play.

Bayer Leverkusen’s 2-2 draw with SC Freiburg at the weekend confirmed that Bayern had regained their league title after losing out to Xabi Alonso’s men last season.

The Belgian, who won the title in his first season at the club, admitted that the constant expectations and demands of being in charge of Germany’s top club were difficult to deal with.

“Sleep, really sleep,” Kompany said in a club interview when asked what he was most looking forward to after the title win.

“You constantly have the pressure of the next game. You achieve something but then you have to start building for the next achievement.”

There were still low moments for Kompany’s men during the season, as they lost in the round-of-16 stage of the DFB-Pokal to Leverkusen at home.

They also fell to a Champions League quarter-final defeat to Inter Milan, which was compounded by the destination of the final being at the Allianz Arean, Bayern’s home stadium.

Kompany is looking forward to spending some time with his family in the off-season and putting those disappointments behind him, which he admits is easier after winning the league.

“Sometimes you have these moments with the family during the year, but then your head is somewhere else,” Kompany said.

“Now in the next few weeks I will leave some of that behind. But you can only do that after winning.”

Bayern face Borussia Monchengladbach at the weekend in their final match at home before rounding off the season away to Hoffenheim.

Kompany’s men have a month off before the beginning of the Club World Cup in June.
