Lallana extends Liverpool contract

Adam Lallana has extended his contract with Liverpool in order to help them wrap up the Premier League title, the Merseyside club have confirmed.

Lallana’s contract was about to expire at the end of this month, and he was reportedly set to leave on a free transfer. Though he hasn’t been much of a regular in the starting XI this season, the attacking midfielder’s input on Liverpool’s progress in recent years has been huge, and the club seem keen to acknowledge it by enabling him to remain a part of the team which is set to end a 30-year wait to be named English champions.

The 30-year-old has mostly been linked with Leicester City, where Brendan Rodgers, the man who signed him for Liverpool from Southampton in 2014, is now at the helm. If their interest is genuine, they will likely be forced to wait only a little longer, because the extension runs until the end of July.
