Leeds United have completed the signing of defender Scott Wootton from Manchester United, the Mail Online understands.
The 21 year old, who is comfortable playing anywhere across the back line, made just four appearances for United in three years with the club, though he has spent much of that time out on loan.
He made seven appearances for Tranmere Rovers in League One four seasons ago, and enjoyed two spells with Peterbrough United either side of four months with Nottingham Forest in 2012.
Wootton is Brian McDermott’s fourth signing of the summer, and follows fellow new arrivals Noel Hunt, Matt Smith and Luke Murphy into Elland Road.
He is the first player to make a permanent switch from Manchester United to Leeds United since Danny Pugh was used as makeweight in a deal that saw Alan Smith move it the opposite direction.
Leeds are currently unbeaten in the Championship this season, amassing five points from their three games so far.
