Leicester complete Tielemans signing

The Guardian understands that Leicester City have completed the permanent signing of Youri Tielemans from Monaco.

The fee, thought to be in the region of £40m and sees the club smash their transfer record for the second time in a week after securing the services of striker Ayoze Perez just four days ago.

Tielemans spent the second half of last season on loan at the King Power Stadium, and impressed with three goals in twelve appearances.

In one-and-a-half-years with Monaco, the twenty-two-year-old racked up sixty-five appearances in all competitions, scoring six goals having spent four seasons in the first team of Anderlecht – the club where he began his career.

He has been capped twenty-three times for Belgium and was part of their squad that finished third at the 2018 World Cup finals in Russia, while he scored his first international goal in a 3-1 Euro 2020 qualification win over Russia back in March.
