Lemar “never thought of leaving Atletico”

Thomas Lemar claims he has never even considered leaving Atletico Madrid.

The 23-year-old arrived to Wanda Metropolitano last summer from AS Monaco in a €70 million deal as a hot prospect, at a moment when links with top clubs around Europe were popping up on a daily basis. However, it’s fair to say that he has somewhat failed to impress in his first season in Madrid.

He has made 26 La Liga appearances (38 in all competitions) this season, but most of those came off the bench, and he has scored only two goals and laid on two assists in Spain’s top flight.

The winger’s disappointing first season with Atletico has sparked rumours about his possible departure after only 12 months, but Lemar spoke to Telefoot (as relayed by Marca) and revealed that has no intention of leaving. He is aware that the club and manager Diego Simeone expect a lot more from him, but he is confident about his ability to deliver accordingly.
