(GSM) – Manchester City will be without Joleon Lescott for five weeks after the England defender underwent surgery on his knee. The 27-year-old centre half hopes to make his return for City in February.

Lescott was understood to have gone under the knife to remove floating bone in the joint on the eve of the Premier League game against Tottenham Hotspur at White Hart Lane (3-0 loss).

City boss Mark Hughes will have serious defensive worries in January. Besides Lescott, Hughes will also be without Kolo Toure who will play at the African Cup of Nations with Ivory Coast.
