Robert Lewandowski does not think he is far away from replicating the levels he showed last season for Barcelona, despite his injury issues this term.

Lewandowski scored 42 goals across 52 games in all competitions for the Blaugrana last season, leading them to a domestic treble.

The Poland international scored a goal every 93.5 minutes on average in 2024-25.

However, he has made just four starts so far this season, and 10 appearances overall, having struggled with a series of niggling injuries.

Lewandowski, though, is fit and firing ahead of Barca’s clash with Club Brugge in the Champions League, and feels he is close to the form he showed last season.

“I feel good after the injury. Physically, I’m very well. I’ve been with the team and I played three days ago. The most important thing is how I can help my team win the game.

“Regarding numbers, I don’t know, I’ve missed a lot of games due to injury. But when I’m playing, I believe the level can be similar.

“You have to look at other things you weren’t looking at before, but I’m very clear about this. I’m training at a very high level, which makes it easier for a striker.”

Lewandowski has scored four goals, netting every 111 minutes on average this season.

Barca’s striker was also asked about his future at the club, with his contract up at the end of 2025-26.

“I’m at ease about my future. I’m also thinking about what’s best for me,” he said.

“I have things to work on, many matches, the national team. I’m focused on these things and on scoring goals.

“I’m in no hurry. The most important thing is how I feel, and right now I don’t have to think about my future. Many things can happen, in my life, too. I’m very happy and focused on this season.”

Asked if he had considered skipping Poland’s upcoming international camp, the 37-year-old replied: “I’ve missed a lot of playing time this season, and the national team can help me with that.

“The plan we’ve put together was specifically for me. I’m very happy with how I’ve trained these past few weeks, and I hope that by the end of the season I can be playing at a high level. There are a lot of games, and the most important thing is how you finish the season.”

Marcus Rashford has been one of the players to step up for Barca in the absence of Lewandowski and star winger Raphinha.

Rashford has scored four goals in three Champions League appearances for the Blaugrana, after going goalless in his 12 outings in the competition prior (eight for Manchester United, four for Aston Villa).

The only player to score five goals for the club within his first four appearances is Lewandowski in 2022-23 (five), and he had words of praise for Rashford.

“I’ve always seen that he has great potential, and from the first day at the club I’ve seen that he can give us a lot,” Lewandowski said of Rashford. “He’s playing well, and I hope that with him we can play even better.

“I hope we have stability with the players, but with Rashford, we’re stronger. He not only scores goals, he also provides assists, which is what we need.”
