Lingard and Man United put new contract talks on hold

The talks between Jesse Lingard and Manchester United over a new contract with the forward have been put on hold for the time being, according to Sky Sports, after several rounds failed to yield satisfactory results.

Lingard’s future at Old Trafford seemed non-existent for a long time, but a highly successful loan spell with West Ham in the second half of last season appears to have resurrected the hope he could still make his mark for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s team. He is now in the final season of contract at the club, and his upturn in form in recent months is likely to attract plenty of attention with the possibility of a free transfer growing with every passing day.

Meanwhile, the 29-year-old has only played five matches in the Premier League this term, scoring twice, and some outlets report that this holdup in talks is a sign that he’s had enough and wants to leave the club.
