Liverpool confirm Minamino deal

Liverpool have confirmed that they have agreed a deal to sign Takumi Minamino from RB Salzburg. The Japanese international passed a medical on Wednesday and agreed personal terms, and he will be a Liverpool player come January 1st.

In an interview to the club’s official website, Minamino said playing in the Premier League was one of the targets of his career, but playing for Liverpool was a ‘dream’ he never thought would come true, and he’s very happy that it has. The 24-year-old forward also claims he was impressed by Liverpool’s technical quality and the intensity with which they play as the Champions League holders got the better of Salzburg twice, seeking to defend the trophy.

If he was impressed with Liverpool, it’s fair to say that the feeling went both ways, given the way the Merseyside club sprang immediately into action to acquire Minamino’s services. The deal will reportedly cost the Reds £7.25 million.
