Liverpool monitoring Patson Daka

According to Austrian outlet Salzburger Nachrichten, Liverpool are considering a move for RB Salzburg striker Patson Daka this summer.

The 22-year-old played at several clubs in his homeland of Zambia, before arriving on a six-month loan to FC Liefering in the Austrian 2. Liga, a feeder club for Salzburg. He did very well there and Salzburg signed him themselves as soon as the loan expired the following summer. Since then, he has scored 63 goals in 114 appearances so far, adding 23 assists into the mix as well. His numbers in the Austrian Bundesliga this term have been particularly good – 20 goals in 18 games.

As for Liverpool, they are expected to be in the market for a new striker this summer. Though they have been linked with expensive superstars, such as Borussia Dortmund’s Erling Haaland and Paris Saint-Germain’s Kylian Mbappe, signing a player like Daka, a young talent who would apparently be available for €20 million, fits the transfer strategy the Reds have shown under owners FSG so far a lot more.
