Liverpool to lead Ramsey race

Liverpool have had a surprise bid for Aaron Ramsey refused by Arsenal, according to the Mirror, but they aren’t prepared to give up the chase yet.

To avoid losing him on a free transfer, Arsenal will look to part ways with the Welshman in January, though it remains a doubt whether the player would accept that. Arsenal have reportedly pulled out of negotiations over a new deal with the 27-year-old, and he is now considering his options. As a free agent in the summer, Ramsey would have a pick of top European sides that would be vying for his signature.

Juventus are also said to be monitoring the situation closely, but it appears the midfielder is keen on working with Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool, as well as linking up again with former teammate Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, who is currently recovering from a horror knee-ligament injury suffered in the Champions League semi-final against AS Roma.

All that would put Liverpool in pole position in a race to secure Ramsey’s signature, once his deal with the Gunners expires.
