Liverpool to sign 17-year-old Sepp van den Berg

Liverpool have won the race to sign Sepp van den Berg from PEC Zwolle, according to Matt Law of The Telegraph. The 17-year-old is due to undergo a medical with the Champions League winners on Wednesday, before completing a £1.79 million move to the Merseyside.

Van den Berg is a Dutch U-19 international defender who made 16 Eredivisie appearances for Zwolle during the 2018/19 season. The report claims he will spend his first year in the north-west of England settling in and learning, before being given a chance to impress manager Jurgen Klopp in the first team in 2020/21.

The youngster was an object of interest for Sampdoria back in January, but the Serie A outfit failed to acquire him with a £2.25 million bid. Now however, Liverpool are able to sign him for less than that as he enters the last 12 months of his contract with Zwolle, having beaten Ajax and Bayern Munich in the race for his signature.
