Liverpool’s opening Lewis bid rejected by Norwich

Liverpool have had their opening bid for Jamal Lewis rejected, according to multiple reliable sources.

Having been relegated from the Premier League, Norwich are obviously prepared for clubs coming in for their talented players, and Lewis is undoubtedly one of them. The 22-year-old left-back has plenty of energy and defensive responsibility in him, coupled with a great knack for making attacking contribution as well. As such, he has been pin-pointed by the English and European champions for the role of playing backup to Andy Robertson.

Liverpool therefore submitted a bid for his services amounting to £10 million, but it was rejected straight away. Norwich value the player at double that figure and are in no mood to allow their prized assets to be taken from them for what they obviously feel would be well below value.

However, the talks between the two clubs are still on, with Lewis keen to make the Anfield switch. The youngster doesn’t mind performing a backup role for a while and is prepared to fight for his place in the team further down the line.
