Luca Zidane completes Racing loan switch

Racing Santander have completed and confirmed the signing of Luca Zidane on loan from Real Madrid.

The son of the Real head coach Zinedine Zidane came through the ranks of the youth selections of Los Blancos which he joined in 2004 as a six-year-old. He has made the step to the first team recently, making two La Liga appearances which followed 49 outings for Real’s Castilla outfit in the Second Division B.

With Thibaut Courtois and Keylor Navas appearing set to remain choices number one and two between the posts at the Santiago Bernabeu, it is vital for the 21-year-old’s further development to gain experience provided by a temporary move elsewhere. He will, therefore, spend the 2019/20 season at Racing after completing his medical and going through his first training session today (Tuesday), competing in the Spanish second tier – LaLiga 1 | 2 | 3.

The young goalkeeper will have the task of trying to displace Ivan Crespo, Racing’s undisputed first choice in goal, from his spot in the starting XI.
