Lunin reluctant to return to Real

Real Madrid signed Andriy Lunin from Zorya Luhansk in June 2018, and having already three goalkeepers ahead of him in the pecking order, they sent him out on loan to Leganes in August. Since then, the 19-year-old has seen his game-time limited at Leganes as well, where he is currently the understudy for first choice between the posts “Pichu” Cuellar.

Now, due to a likely departure of Keylor Navas in January, Real want to bring him back, according to AS. The youngster, however, does not want to go back as he is happier being on the bench for Leganes than third choice for the Champions League holders, behind Thibaut Courtois and Kiko Casilla.

Lunin believes he has shown a lot of quality in his 274 competitive minutes on the pitch, and that he stands a chance of fighting the excellent Cuellar for the number one spot, and he doesn’t want to go back to his parent club where he would be unlikely to play at all.
