Long-time leaders Lyon should find themselves ousted from top spot in Ligue 1 by the time they kick off against struggling Sochaux on Sunday. Les Gones’ surprise 2-0 defeat to Auxerre last weekend allowed the chasing pack to make up some ground and the top four are separated by just three points heading into this weekend.

“It all depends on us,” said the former Lille defender Mathieu Bodmer, “Our aim isn’t to wait to see the results of other teams but to go looking each weekend for the three points”.

“To be sure of keeping first place, we will have to win all our remaining matches. It is up to us to show we are the best and that we deserve the title”.
