Malcom has to show his quality

Barcelona head coach Ernesto Valverde has urged Malcom to show his quality on the pitch, as relayed by Sport.

The manager compared Malcom’s situation with that of Denis Suarez, whose move to Arsenal seems very close at the moment. He says it’s impossible for all players to play, and in order to earn their place in the team, every one of them has to show what he can do. There is no difference between what a player wants and what his manager wants for him – to play a lot of games and score a lot of goals, and Valverde says he doesn’t ask anything different from Malcom than any other player in the squad.

The 21-year-old winger was on the verge of joining AS Roma from Bordeaux last summer, but the permission for him to fly to Rome was revoked at the last possible moment as Barcelona threw a spanner in the works and snatched him. Sport claim he is still set to leave Camp Nou after only half a season, and he’s been linked with a move to China, as well as the English Premier League.
