Man City and Valencia clash over Torres valuation

Manchester City have identified winger Ferran Torres of Valencia as a suitable replacement for Leroy Sane who was presented as a Bayern Munich player on Thursday. The Spanish U-21 international has already made his mind up about playing under Pep Guardiola at the Etihad, but according to The Telegraph, the two clubs are nowhere near finding common ground in terms of the transfer fee.

The contract binding Torres to the La Liga side has entered its final 12 months, and City therefore believe the price for his services should now go far below his reported release clause of €100 million. On the other hand, Valencia are taking a different view on the matter, and though they accept that they won’t be able to get that amount in full, they aren’t prepared to go too low in agreeing a deal.

Valencia have apparently offered a new contract to Torres to strengthen their selling position, but he refused to sign it. Further more, it’s been reported that he has already agreed personal terms with the Premier League runners-up.
