Manchester United and Chelsea are keeping a close eye to the situation around Raphael Varane’s Real Madrid future, as reported by the Mirror.
The 27-year-old defender is about to enter final year of his contract, and Real president Florentino Perez, though claiming he was happy with the team as is when asked about it, admitted the club wouldn’t be stopping players from leaving if they chose to do so.
Real have another, arguably more pressing issue to resolve at the moment, with captain Sergio Ramos about to run out of contract at the end of the season and no progress in the talks about a new deal. However, they recently defeated Liverpool over two legs in the Champions League quarterfinals without either of their preferred two centre-backs, with Nacho and Eder Militao stepping in and performing extremely well.
Varane has been linked with both United and Chelsea in the past, with United searching for a stable partner to captain Harry Maguire and Chelsea looking to add quality and leadership to their back line.
