Manchester beckons to Fred

Shakhtar Donetsk’s Fred has been linked with Manchester City for a while now as Pep Guardiola wants a long-term replacement for Fernandinho, but now, according to the Mirror, Manchester United are ready to steal the move.

With Michael Carrick set to retire and Marouane Fellaini’s contract expiring this summer, Jose Mourinho is also looking to bolster his options in the middle of the park. He has made it clear United intend to spend big to be able to challenge their neighbors for the Premier League title next season.

Arsenal were also linked with the midfielder. However, despite Gilberto Silva being his advisor, the Gunners are likely to be priced out of the move should a bidding war occur. Manchester City have also made it clear that they will not pay over what they consider a fair price. This could open the door for United to swoop in and take Fred to Old Trafford.
