According to the Independent, Manchester City are considering signing Paul Pogba in March, when his doping ban expires.
The former France international was initially banned for four years for increased testosterone levels, but the ban has been reduced to 18 months and ends in March next year. Nonetheless, the issue caused his contract with Juventus to get terminated in November, and at the age of 31, he is now a free agent.
Numerous injuries have left City boss Pep Guardiola in a difficult situation, especially the ACL tear suffered by Rodri. The club’s transfer activities in the January transfer market are likely to be impacted by the uncertainty around the ongoing proceedings against them, which might see the reigning Premier League champions relegated. Therefore, they’re obviously exploring alternative means of strengthening the squad.
On the other hand, having spent a total of nine years in Manchester, playing for United at several youth levels and later the first team at Old Trafford, Pogba is believed to be reluctant to return to the city in the north-west of England.
