Manchester City plan £60m for Martin Zubimendi

Manchester City are interested in signing Martin Zubimendi from Real Sociedad in the January transfer window, according to The Daily Star. The report has claimed that City, who won the Premier League title last season, are planning to bid £60 million for the midfielder.

City are looking for a midfielder to replace Rodri in the team. The Spain international defensive midfielder is on the sidelines at the moment because of a serious knee injury and will not play again for the Citizens this season. Rodri himself has given a glowing recommendation of Zubimendi to City.

Zubimendi has a release clause of £60 million in his contract at Sociedad, and City are ready to trigger it when the transfer window opens in January. The 25-year-old has been on the books of Socidad since 2011 and has established himself in the first team after coming through the youth academy. The midfielder has scored one goal and given one assist in 12 starts and one substitute appearance in La Liga for La Real so far this season.
